About Work
Nilofer Khan’s photographic work explores introspection, imagination, and emotional landscapes through surreal visual narratives. In The Colour of Solitude, created during the pandemic, she reimagines Bombay not as a bustling city, but as a dreamscape stripped of its defining chaos. The series reflects her search for solitude, liberation, and stillness—feelings that remain just out of reach.
Her ongoing series, Where a Parallel World Resides, uses self-portraiture, patterns, and whimsical motifs to mirror internal states. Drawing from fairytale-like imagery, nature, and magical realism, Khan transforms everyday moments into poetic meditations.
Through carefully composed and occasionally embellished images, she reclaims abandoned spaces and objects, giving them new meaning and emotional resonance. Her work blends reality and imagination, evoking wonder, vulnerability, and quiet strength.
