Natasha Hemrajani
Natasha Hemrajani is a Mumbai-based visual artist and photographer whose work blends photojournalism, commercial photography, and experimental visual storytelling. Influenced by surrealism and the works of Salvador Dalí and Man Ray, she explores themes of identity, environment, and self-expression.
Beginning her career in the early 2000s, she has worked with The Times of India, Hindustan Times, and Mid-Day as a photojournalist and served as Photo Editor at Grazia. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, Vogue, Caravan, Harper’s Bazaar, and more. Her exhibitions include Hello, Goodbye (Delhi Photo Festival, 2013), The Mall Series (Focus Photography Festival, 2015), and The Aesthetics of Carnival (India International Centre, 2017). She also mentors emerging photographers through workshops and academic programs.
About Work
Natasha Hemrajani’s photographic work explores themes of environmental advocacy, femininity, and uninhibited self-expression through striking visual narratives. Art for a Cause, in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, highlights the urgent crisis surrounding water conservation. Using acrobats and performers to symbolize the fragility of marine ecosystems, her images merge movement and advocacy, urging awareness of water’s vital role in sustaining life.
In The Aesthetics of Joy, a project supported by the Embassy of Brazil, she captures the energy of the Brazilian Carnival through double-exposure photography. The series celebrates the divine feminine, freedom, and the connection between women and nature. Through rhythm, contrast, and organic forms, Hemrajani’s work redefines beauty, movement, and identity in bold, expressive ways.
