Debrani Das
Debrani Das, a Kolkata-based street photographer, is an X Ambassador for Fujifilm India and the winner of the Women Street Photographers Artist Residency 2022 in New York City. She co-curated a special exhibition showcasing Indian female street photographers at the Indian Photo Festival (IPF) 2022.
Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, gaining recognition in prestigious publications. Her photographs have been featured in notable books and magazines, including Women Street Photographer, Reclaim The Street, FujiLove Magazine, and Street Sweeper Magazine. Through her lens, she continues to capture compelling narratives from the streets, showcasing unique perspectives and everyday moments.
About Work
India’s rich cultural and religious diversity has always been at the heart of my photographic exploration. A land where over a hundred languages are spoken, it is held together by a deep sense of humanity. What draws me in the most, however, are its people—their stories, expressions, and ways of life.
Every region carries a unique essence, where landscapes dictate attire, traditions, and lifestyles. Colors shift from the muted tones of the East to the vibrant hues of the West, mirroring the contrasts within. Yet, amidst these differences, festivals bring people together, dissolving socio-economic barriers. My work seeks to capture this shared spirit—the curiosity in every eye, the warmth in every heart, and the simplicity in every smile. Through my lens, I document not just the diversity of India, but the emotions that connect us all.
