‘Big Cities’ Exhibition in Moscow

Niyatee Shinde, representing the ZiiP Foundation, played a pivotal role at the prestigious ‘Big Cities’ in Moscow as part of the BRICS Urban Forum. This significant event, held in the heart of Moscow, brought together artists, urban planners, and cultural thinkers from the BRICS nations to explore the complex relationships between urban spaces and artistic expression.

ZiiP Foundation proudly showcased the work of three distinguished Indian photographers, highlighting the diverse urban narratives emerging from India’s rapidly evolving cities. These photographers presented their compelling visual stories to a large and engaged audience, offering a unique perspective on the challenges and beauty of urban life in India.

Artist Residency Experience

Beyond the presentations, the Indian photographers participated in an artist residency program in Moscow. Niyatee Shinde, representing ZiiP Foundation, served as the first Indian woman on the prestigious Hasselblad Award Jury. In this role, she had the honor of nominating acclaimed Indian photographer Dayanita Singh, who subsequently won the Hasselblad Award in 2022. This recognition highlights Singh’s profound contributions to the field of photography and reflects ZiiP Foundation’s commitment to promoting Indian artists on the global stage. Niyatee’s involvement not only marked a significant milestone for Indian photography but also strengthened international recognition of India’s rich visual culture.

ZiiP Foundation co-curated the “View India” exhibition, which showcased contemporary Indian photography at the Landskrona Foto Festival in Sweden. Pingyao International Photography Festival

Niyatee Shinde, representing the ZiiP Foundation, curated and represented the India Pavilion at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in 2005 and 2019. This festival is one of Asia’s most prestigious photography events, and ZiiP’s participation brought Indian photographic art to the forefront. The curated exhibitions showcased the diversity and innovation of Indian photography, enhancing cultural exchange and strengthening international ties within the global photography community.

Oracle - International Photography Conference

Niyatee Shinde, has been representing India at Oracle since 1988. The conclave  is an influential international conference for renowned photo-historians, museum directors, photography curators, and experts. In 2003, we also hosted Oracle in India, fostering a vital exchange of ideas and practices between Indian and global curators. This event played a crucial role in positioning India within the global photography community and enhancing the visibility of Indian photographic narratives.
